NC Forever educates policymakers, agencies, and other government officials on the benefits of protecting North Carolina’s natural resources.

Our Legislative Goals

Increase recurring dollars for the 3 conservation trust funds

 

  • Land and Water Fund: $45 million recurring
    • Currently: $28 million recurring
    • In addition to traditional conservation projects, this funding also goes to support military readiness

 

  • Parks and Recreation Trust Fund: $45 million recurring
    • Currently: $28 million recurring

 

  • Agricultural Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund: $25 million recurring
    • Currently: $5 million recurring

 

 

Fund FerryMon (Pamlico Sound) and ModMon (Neuse River): $360,000 recurring

  • FerryMon: $175,000 per year (direct cost)
  • ModMon: $185,000 per year (direct cost)

 

 

Increase Conservation Tax Credit funding to $15 million and remove sunset provision

  • Currently: $5 million/year with sunset in 2026

 

 

Increase funding to support conservation on private lands, specifically:  

  • Ag Wrap: $3 million recurring
  • Ag Cost Share Program: $10 million recurring with flexibility for administration
  • Community Conservation Assistance Programs: $1.5 million recurring
